Egg freezing has been traditionally used as a fertility preservation option for women who are having some forms of cancer treatment. However, clinics are increasingly providing egg freezing for “social reasons” – for women who want to reduce the risk of age-related infertility. Professor Gab Kovacs AM, International Medical Director at Monash IVF, appeared on The 7pm Project after being quoted in The Age as saying that women might have to settle for have to “settle for Mr Not-Too-Bad” if they could not find Mr Right rather than risk age-related infertility.
